Navigation Tips

The SURS site has several features that make finding what you want easier than ever. Use the Search feature to locate a specific term or review the Site Map to view the content of the website.

Note: The following information refers to the graphic site specifically, the text only site has similar capabilities. Click on the pictures to see a full-screen sample.

Returning Home

You can return to the SURS homepage by clicking the:
  1. SURS logo in the upper left-hand corner of the browser window
  2. browser´s back button (repeatedly?)
  3. SURS breadcrumb link at the top of the main content window
  4. blue "SURS HOME" button on the left-hand side of the screen immediately above "Plans."

 

Links

Have you noticed that some links are underlined while others are not? This is not by mistake or accident. When a link is followed (clicked), it will stay underlined to indicate which pages have been visited. Also, note that links to PDFs and external sites will open in a new browser window.

 

Section-Specific Navigation

The top button on the left hand side (A) indicates which section you´re visiting. When clicked, it takes you back to that section´s home page. The ´Section Links´ (B) are specific to that section. Note: these buttons change depending on what section you are visiting.

 

Breadcrumbs

The first line in the main window shows your location in the site. This image indicates that the Active Member Home (C) page of the Active Member (B) section of the SURS (A) site is being viewed. You could return to the SURS homepage by clicking the SURS link, or return to the Active Member homepage by clicking the Active Member link.

 

News and Calendar

The beige column on the right contains current topics of interest. To read a specific article, simply click on its title (A). To view ALL the news articles, click on the "News" heading (B). Similarly, to view the entire calendar, click on the "Calendar" heading (C).

 

Generic Page Map

This image shows the location of the features listed below. Information that changes from one page to the next is labeled (dynamic):
  1. SURS Logo - returns you to the homepage from anywhere on the site.
  2. Text Only - displays the page without images and is great for printing, screen readers, and older browsers.
  3. Site Map - lists every page on the site by section.
  4. Contact - provides information for contacting SURS.
  5. Search - searches the site. Boolean expressions are allowed.
  6. Section Indicator - indicates which section is being viewed (dynamic).
  7. Horizontal Tabs - link to SURS-related information.
  8. Section Links - provide topic-specific navigation. (dynamic)
  9. Plans - provide plan-specific information.
  10. Breadcrumbs - indicate page location relative to the site (dynamic).
  11. Content - displays the page content (dynamic).
  12. News and Calendar - list important news and events (dynamic).
  13. Footer - provides contact, legal, and privacy information.
  14. Copyright - protects content from unauthorized reproduction.
