A special Dental Only Benefit Choice Enrollment Period will be available to SURS members enrolled in the State Employees Group Insurance Program (SEGIP) and the Medicare Advantage TRAIL Program. The enrollment period will be May 1 – May 31.
During this open enrollment, you may elect to opt-in or opt-out of dental coverage if you choose. This change affects your annual deductible costs, allowable expenses and out-of-pocket maximums. Elections made during this enrollment period will take effect July 1, 2018.
This is a one-time event to align dental coverage with health, prescription and vision coverage on a calendar-year schedule. Currently dental coverage is managed on the state’s fiscal year and health coverage is on the calendar year. With this change, all annual deductible and out-of-pocket accumulations will begin Jan. 1 and end Dec. 31.
As a result of this change, your deductible and plan-year maximum benefit accumulations for dental will begin July 1, 2018 and start over Jan. 1, 2019.
You are not required to take any action during this special enrollment. If you take no action, your existing dental coverage election will remain in place. If you are not currently enrolled in dental coverage, this will not change.
If you wish to make a change to your dental coverage during this special Dental Only Benefit Enrollment Period you can do so by logging in to MyBenefits.illinois.gov, or by calling the MyBenefits Service Center Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. CST, (toll free) 844-251-1777 or (TDD/TTY) 844 251-1778.
