The meeting of the Audit & Risk Committee of the Board of Trustees of the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) convened on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 3:30 p.m.
The SURS Audit & Risk Committee went into closed session at 4:13 p.m., pursuant to section 2(c)(8) of the Open Meetings Act.
The following trustees were present: Dr. Andriy Bodnaruk; Dr. Fred Giertz; Mr. Richard Figueroa, Mr. Scott Hendrie, Mr. John Lyons, Mr. Herbert Pitman; Dr. Steven Rock (via zoom), Mr. Collin Van Meter, and Mr. Antonio Vasquez.

Information Sytems Security Update
Quarterly IS Security Update
Mr. Jefferey Saiger presented the quarterly Systems Security Update to the Board of Trustees. The focus of this update was to discuss the growing importance of appropriate security measures in the public pension space and to address the potential impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He also shared some operational updates for the ongoing efforts to improve Phishing awareness and he identified key information security initiatives.
Fraud Report
There was no fraud report presented to the Board of Trustees.
