The meeting of the of the Board of Trustees of the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) convened on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
Upon motion by Trustee Rock, seconded by Trustee Vasquez, and following a roll call vote, the SURS Board of Trustees went into closed session pursuant to §2(c)(11) of the Open Meetings Act.
The following trustees were present: Mr. Andriy Bodnaruk, Dr. Fred Giertz, Mr. Scott Hendrie, Mr. John Lyons; chair, Mr. Pranav Kothari, Dr. Steven Rock, Mr. Antonio Vasquez, Mr. Collin Van Meter, and Mr. Mitch Vogel.
Others present: Ms. Suzanne Mayer, Executive Director; Ms. Bianca Green, General Counsel; Ms. Nichole Hemming, Chief Human Resources Officer; Ms. Kelly Carson, Executive Assistant; Mr. Michael Calabrese of Foley, and Ms. Lorna Geiler of Mayer Capel.
The SURS Board of Trustees went into closed session at 12:36 p.m.
General Counsel’s Litigation Report
Ms. Bianca Green introduced external counsel, Ms. Lorna Geiler of the law firm of Mayer Capel. Ms. Geiler presented the board with information regarding a pending EEOC matter involving a former SURS employee.
Ms. Green presented the General Counsel’s Litigation Report and updated the Board on pending litigation matters.

The open meeting resumed at 1:08 p.m.
Closed Session

General Counsel’s Litigation Report
Ms. Green provided an update on a recent security situation stemming from threats made by a disgruntled member of SURS to herself, to Ms. Heather Kimmons and to Hearing Officer Dan Gaumer.
