The meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) convened on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. 

This meeting was held in person at Northern Trust in Chicago, IL.

The following trustees were present: Dr. Andriy Bodnaruk; Mr. Richard Figueroa; Dr. Fred Giertz; Mr. Scott Hendrie; Ms. Jeanine Jiganti; Mr. Pranav Kothari; Mr. John Lyons (chair); Mr. Herbert Pitman; Dr. Steven Rock.

Others present: Ms. Suzanne Mayer, Executive Director; Ms. Bianca Green, General Counsel; Mr. Albert Lee, Associate General Counsel; Ms. Heather Kimmons, Associate Legal Counsel; Mr. Michael Schlachter, Chief Investment Officer (CIO); Ms. Nichole Hemming, Chief Human Resources Officer; Mr. Jefferey Saiger, Chief Strategy & Technology Officer; Ms. Tara Myers, Chief Financial Officer; Ms. Jackie Hohn, Chief Internal Auditor; Ms. Kristen Houch, Director of Legislative and Stakeholder Relations; Ms. Kelly Carson, Ms. Chelsea McCarty, and Ms. Annette Ackerman, Executive Assistants; and Mr. Michael Calabrese, Foley & Lardner LLP.

Executive Committee roll call attendance was taken: Trustee Giertz, present; Trustee Hendrie, present; Trustee Lyons (chair), present; Trustee Van Meter, present; and Trustee Vasquez, absent.

Motion to Allow Trustees to Participate via Electronic Means

Trustee Giertz made the following motion:

• That Trustee Vasquez be allowed to participate via video or audio conference call for the Executive committee Meeting on June 4, 2026, pursuant to Section 7(a) of the Open Meetings Act.

Trustee Hendrie seconded the motion, which passed via the following roll call vote:

Trustee Giertz – aye
Trustee Hendrie – aye
Trustee Lyons – aye
Trustee Van Meter – absent
Trustee Vasquez – not called

Roll call attendance for trustees participating via electronic means was taken: Trustee Vasquez, absent.

Approval of Minutes

Trustee Lyons presented the minutes from the Executive Committee meeting of March 4, 2026.

Trustee Giertz made the following motion:

That the open session minutes from March 4, 2026, Executive Committee meeting be approved as presented.

Trustee Hendrie seconded the motion, which passed via all trustees present voting in favor of the motion.

Approval of Closed Minutes

Trustee Lyons presented the closed minutes from the Executive Committee meeting of March 4, 2026.

Trustee Hendrie made the following motion:

• That the closed minutes from March 4, 2026, Executive Committee meeting be approved as presented and remain closed.

Trustee Giertz seconded the motion, which passed via all trustees present voting in favor of the motion.

Chairperson’s Report

Trustee Lyons did not have a formal chairperson’s report.

Nomination of SURS Committee Chairs and Committee Members for Fiscal Year 2027

Trustee John Lyons presented the proposed slate of nominations titled, “Proposed Committee Assignments FY27” to the group for their consideration. Trustee Lyons explained that the only change to the current committee structure was removing Trustee Rock from Audit & Risk Committee and adding Trustee Figueroa to that committee.

Trustee Giertz made the following motion:

• To accept the slate of nominations of chairpersons and committee members for all committees except the Executive Committee, as presented, for fiscal year 2027.

Trustee Hendrie seconded the motion, which passed via the following roll call vote:

Trustee Giertz – aye
Trustee Hendrie – aye
Trustee Lyons – aye
Trustee Van Meter – absent
Trustee Vasquez – absent

Public Comment

There were no public comments presented to the Executive Committee.

Adjourn

There was no further business brought before the committee and Trustee Giertz moved that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was seconded by Trustee Hendrie, and it passed via the following roll call vote:
