Fraud Prevention Tips
If you feel you’ve received communication claiming to be from SURS that appears suspicious, please contact us.
These tips can help you verify whether communication from SURS is legitimate:
- SURS staff emails end with @surs.org.
- SURS would only call you during our business hours, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Central Time, Monday – Friday.
- SURS staff will not call you out of the blue, offering to set up a meeting to discuss your benefits.
- Only SURS staff can access your SURS account.
- SURS staff can provide information about your SURS benefits only; we do not provide financial planning services.
- SURS does not solicit personal information like Social Security numbers or bank account information by email, which is not a secure form of communication.
- SURS staff will never offer to meet at your home.
