Actuarial Valuation Reports & Experience Studies

Description Summary: 
The valuation reports provide information on the funding status of SURS and include a determination of the State contribution level. The experience study compares actual experience to expected experience based on information for the period from June 30, 2006 to June 30, 2010.

Investment Committee

The Investment Committee maintains a written set of Investment Guidelines that reflect the statutory constraints. These guidelines include specification of the investment objectives of the System, the target asset allocations, and the appropriate benchmarks used for evaluating the performance of the funds, the asset classes within the funds, and each investment manager.

Use of Emerging Investment Managers

The following reports outline SURS' continued commitment to the use of emerging investment managers. The SURS Board of Trustees has an established policy adopted in 1992 and reaffirmed in 2001 that formally discusses the initiative to increase the participation of minority and women-owned business enterprise firms as required by Public Act 96–006.
