SURS at a Glance

The State Universities Retirement System (SURS) is one of the five state-funded retirement plans that provide retirement, survivor, death and disability benefits on behalf of more than 250,000 members from 61 employers in Illinois, including state universities, community colleges and state agencies. As of June 30, 2024, SURS defined benefit plan was valued at approximately $24.3 billion while SURS RSP and DCP defined contribution plans were valued at approximately $4.5 billion and $67.4 million, respectively. SURS headquarters is in the culturally diverse community of Champaign, Illinois. Located just blocks from the University of Illinois campus and all the educational, cultural and entertainment offerings of a college town.
