Benefits Education Trainer

As a Benefits Education Trainer, you will be responsible for ensuring the creation and delivery of knowledge, tools and resources for various day-to-day member service functions, new hire training, projects implementations, and other related assignments. The ideal candidate will work alongside the rest of the Benefits Education Training team to analyze and identify training needs and will oversee all aspects of the training program including, but not limited to, designing training curriculum or topics, developing training materials, conducting training sessions, performing needs assessments, evaluating the effectiveness of training, and maintaining training statistics and providing reports to managers and other stakeholders.

Director of Defined Contribution

As the Director of Defined Contribution, you will lead the strategy, oversight, and administration of the SURS Retirement Savings Plan (RSP) and Deferred Compensation Plan (DCP). You will serve as the primary internal leader responsible for coordinating investment, legal, accounting, counseling, communications, and vendor partners to ensure these plans operate efficiently, compliantly, and in alignment with SURS’ mission.

This role combines strategic leadership, operational oversight, and vendor management while supporting a collaborative, mission-driven organization serving members throughout Illinois public higher education.

IT Manager

The IT Manager role offers the opportunity to lead two critical operational teams and shape SURS’ evolving technology landscape. Ideal candidates are energized by guiding technical professionals, improving operational processes, and helping modernize core infrastructure. This position is well suited for someone who values purposeful leadership, enjoys translating technical considerations into actionable decisions, and wants to contribute to a mission‑driven organization building a stronger, more forward‑looking IT foundation.

Member Service Representative

Serve in a Member Service Representative role in one of the following SURS departments: Call Center, Counseling, Disability, Beneficiary and Survivor, Employer Services, Insurance, Pay Benefits, PREP, Retirement, Retirement Savings Plan.

SURS’ Member Service roles rely heavily on strong customer service, communications, critical thinking, and mathematical skills. Certain departments are more customer service-focused while others focus more on claims processing and analysis. Openings are available in multiple departments. Must be a current Illinois resident to apply.
